I am finally out of the fog that hovered from two months of sleep deprivation.
It was as if a switch was flipped and I'm back to my old self. It happened at 87 West 2, where chef Jonathan Guest served us a fantastic meal and woke me up with flavor. Despite the snowstorm, we were out running some errands and decided to stop in. Because of the snowstorm, several people had cancelled out on a wine tasting and custom-designed menu.
So, we were the fortunate recipients of the special event menu that was ready for patrons who never showed. We started with a flatbread pizza with porcini mushrooms, goat cheese, green apple straws and dressed greens. Then a lobster risotto that was topped with fried baby spinach. That was followed by a pasta Vera Cruz that Jonathan described as his definition of "comfort food." Indeed. We were delighted by the pear juice to cleanse our palates before we were presented with a tiny pumpkin filled with pumpkin cheesecake.
What a special treat. It's good to be back. We're prepping now for some new projects and I look forward to posting the events of creative producing that I'm sure are around the corner...
