It's Starting

The 33rd Cleveland International Film Festival opened last night with Lightbulb, a funny and touching story about friends who have wacky ideas for that novelty item invention that will make them rich. As you might expect, committing to this profession would have its challenges, especially for loved ones, and that's where the story becomes touching... it was a great film for opening night.

The CIFF has a history of making generous invitations to feature filmmakers and this film was no exception. We were treated to the company of Mike Cram, screenwriter and producer, as well as Dallas Roberts, the actor who plays the character based on real-life Cram.

This year, the festival is hosting over 100 filmmakers. So, if you are at all interested in how films are made, this is the best opportunity to meet the people behind the production you just saw on screen. Sure, I'm biased because of my involvement with the CIFF, but I truly believe that this is the best film festival for people who love movies. Time Magazine wrote: "If you can't make Cannes, try Cleveland."
