Kids' Jokes 2009

This week we will record hours and hours of kids telling jokes. We'll cut it down, add music and we'll have the best on-hold recording ever made for The Step2 Company.

Two years ago, Step2 asked us to help solve a problem with their on-hold music. They had tried everything from news to talk radio to classical, rock, country, and smooth jazz. But, consistently, customers would complain that they had not only been on hold for too long, but that they had been subjected to terrible music. You just can't please everyone...or, can you?

We proposed giving customers some entertainment and simultaneously letting them know that Step2 is a company of families. They have kids, they know kids, and they understand kids. And instead of an adult just reading statements about the company, we thought we could illustrate the point in a better way. So, we made a 50-minute loop of kids telling jokes to each other. The funny part is actually not the jokes themselves, but all the laughter and giggles, and sometimes the conversation: "I don't get it..." "you know, like this..." and it's so much fun to listen to, you actually feel great after just a few minutes of laughter. It's a great branding statement for the company - it says: we really know kids.

We made it for them to use just in time for the 2007 holiday season. And immediately customer complaints of the on-hold music ceased and, instead, callers asked for the end of the joke if it was interrupted, commented on how much they enjoyed listening, and in some cases, they asked to be put BACK ON HOLD!
