I'm so sad to say goodbye to our favorite sandwich shop, La Bodega. Just as we were departing for our trip to Ireland, local news was reporting an explosion and fire in Tremont. No details were known at the time, and no deaths had been reported. By the time we had a layover in New York, we learned from friends that one casualty was the Bodega sandwich shop.

What's even sadder is that we returned from Ireland and then Louisville - yes, a full two weeks and three days later - and I discover half of a leftover Bodega sandwich in the fridge. #58 on toasted wheat. Sure, there's the start of some mold on the bread, it's smashed, and it smells funny, but I just sat and looked at it for a while and thought about that interesting menu and the geniuses that designed those sandwiches. No, I didn't try to eat it...
La Bodega, I will miss you so much. Thank you for all the great sandwiches these past few years.
